While a traditional screw conveyor is pretty simple in its construction, a screw feeder for feeding and metering applications can become a highly engineered machine. Screw feeders can handle the gamut of delicate, aggressive, corrosive, explosive, sticky, fluidized materials, etc. The most basic performance goal is highly accurate metering. This can be achieved by the use of single or multiple screw augers in a single housing, with: variable screw pitches; tapered screws; tapered shaft or conical screws; and tapered housings, in a variety of construction materials, finish grades, and variable speed drive units.
